Dolby's first trailer for the Dolby Digital format. Originally created with the Dolby Stereo logo, it was later revised to incorporate the newer Dolby Digital logo, which is still in use.
Description[]
On a smoky background, we see the wheels of a steam locomotive fade into picture and the engine starts to move. Once it's out of the picture, a gold Dolby Digital logo fades in and the smoky background fades out.
Trivia[]
- During the logo's early days, from 1992 to October 1996, a silver Dolby Stereo Digital logo appeared (Dolby Digital's old name). The animation here was longer as well. This first revision stuck even after the format's rename to Dolby Digital in 1995 until October 1996.
- In November 1996, a revised version was debuted that cut down the animation and updated the Dolby Digital logo to its present name.
- The trailer was available in various aspect ratios, from 1.33:1, 1:66:1, 1:85:1, and up to 2:35:1.
- When used on TV channels prior to their broadcast of films with Dolby soundtracks, the text "where available" would be superimposed over the end of the animation.
