Overview[]
Aurora's debut coincided with the first Dolby Digital Surround EX film release: Lucasfilm's Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
As a salute to Star Wars, Aurora takes the viewer through the development of an aurora borealis in space. Starting with NASA images, yU+Co. created imagery to match the voices of 50 members of the Sonoma State Choir and Sonoma County Bach Chorus.
Aurora maintains the use of the Dolby symphonic soundmark.
Description[]
We see a starfield in space. Suddenly, the Northern Lights appear from the left of the camera. The lights then move around into the Double-D symbol of Dolby. The camera slowly zooms out the see the Dolby Digital logo which shines during the zoom out. In the background we pan through the stars which turns up into nebula. When the logo finishes the website URL "www.dolby.com" fades in below.
Trivia[]
- This trailer was used on only two LaserDiscs, those being the Japanese releases of The Sixth Day and The Cell, both of which were released very late in the lifespan of the format and thus are extremely expensive and hard to find these days.
- Only a few US discs are known to feature this trailer, with the biggest one being Terminator 2: Judgment Day's Ultimate Edition release.
- Most copies of this trailer look a bit blurry, as a filmout transfer was used.
- The scope version is only known to be released theatrically, no home media releases are known to use it.
